Excavation CAMP

Archaeological digs for kids, schoolchildren and adults
The 200 square meter excavation landscape realistically presents all the elements of an archaeological dig under a tent roof. Each level reveals finds from a particular period, from the modern times back to the Stone Age. In the Excavation CAMP you work through the various stages of archaeological field research: You measure and document the height and visual particularities of the already exposed areas. Then you look for archaeological evidence yourself with a trowel and a brush.

Hands-on excavations and offers for groups

Hands-on excavations

The Excavation CAMP can only be visited as part of a hands-on excavation. You will become an archaeologist yourself and be guided by an excavation leader. You will find the dates of the open hands-on excavations in our events calendar.

Offers for adults

Take part in a team dig with friends or club colleagues. The Excavation CAMP provides a unique setting for a company outing, a company event or team building.

Team dig

In our staged setting, which is unique in Europe, you explore and discover the stories in the layers of the earth with a yardstick, pencil and shovel. You measure and document visual particularities of already uncovered areas. Then you use a trowel and brush to reveal archaeological evidence in prepared excavation segments. Layer by layer, idealistic finds and findings complete the history of the region back to the time of the first farmers.

We are more than willing to adapt the program to your particular needs and the format of your event.

Special opening times can also be organised by prior arrangement.
